Dual Enrollment at Big Rapids High School

All dual enrollment registrations must be processed through the BRHS Guidance Office. Attendance at a dual enrollment meeting, offered both in the fall and spring, is required prior to dual enrolling. (New students may meet with a counselor if the meeting has already occurred.) Mid Michigan College will offer one class at BRHS in the fall of 2023.  Ferris also has many online classes available only to high school students (which are cheaper than traditional classes). You will see many Ferris classes are listed as either synchronous or asynchronous.  Synchronous means you must be online at a specific day and time, and asynchronous means you can work on the class whenever it’s convenient for you.  MMC online classes are all asynchronous.

Note: First-time DE students should only take 100-level classes (course number starts with a “1” and it’s highly recommended to start with an in-person class).

Admission Requirements

• GPA and test score requirements vary by school (many schools have waived test scores).

• Ferris: 2.5+ GPA & test scores that show college readiness.*

• Mid Michigan College: Dependent on sending the school's approval

• Lake Superior State University: 2.41+ GPA, school recommendation & test scores that show college readiness.*

• *Colleges are not considering test scores as heavily as in the past.

All costs are based on 2022-23 tuition rates and are subject to change.
