Recently BR Alumna (Class of 2019) Ellie Stanislav won the MSU Beal Botanical Garden's student art contest with her tile piece "Magnolia, Transplanted" which pays homage to her hometown of New Orleans.
Ellie’s family moved to Michigan when she was young due to Hurricane Katrina. She says the piece – which depicts a black-eyed Susan and a magnolia, the state flower of Louisiana -- is a tribute to her parents’ resilience and endurance during and after Katrina.
Ellie is an MSU grad with arts and humanities and fine arts degrees. The full article can be found here: https://bealbotanicalgarden.msu.edu/art-contest
Congratulations, Ellie, and way to represent BRPS!
