Today, BRMS 6th graders visited the 9/11 Memorial at the Big Rapids Department of Public Safety with their teacher, Mr. King. Students observed a memorial service led by AMVETS Post 1941 & American Legion Post 98, and heard from firefighter Sean Wethington about the events of 9/11 and the creation of our local memorial.

Instead of sending printed flyers home with students, BRPS will now post approved materials from approved community partners on our new Virtual Backpack webpage.
This change is expected to reduce paper use, save staff time, and make it easier for families to access community information year-round.
School-related announcements, classroom updates, and student assignments will still be sent home in student backpacks. Families should continue to check backpacks regularly for important school communications.

The administrative, student service, and PTO teams partnered up to be sure that every student get a positive message when they open their locker this morning. Parents participated at open house by writing notes and the admin team placed them in lockers this evening. The goal is to make sure that every student knows that they matter, they are valued and they are cared about at BRMS. This year is gonna be a great year.
