Earlier this school year, our BRMS 6th grade class partnered with The Wildlife Center at Legends Ranch to hold a random lottery giving one first-time hunter the chance to experience a white-tailed deer doe hunt. 🦌

This month, our Board of Education recognized our Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) and Booster Clubs that support our schools. In attendance were representatives from the Brookside PTO, Eastwood PTO, Riverview PTO, Middle School PTO, Sports Boosters, and Band Boosters. These individuals dedicate countless hours to supporting our students. In particular, their fundraising efforts have created SO MANY meaningful opportunities for Big Rapids students, and their commitment makes a lasting difference in our schools and community!

It’s that exciting time again—our 7th Grade BR Logo Competition winner has been announced! Congratulations to Jaycee Bell, whose creative design stood out among many fantastic entries from Ms. Lukas’s class.
Jaycee’s determination, creativity, and attention to detail truly shine through in her winning logo. Way to go, Jayce! 👏
This week a group of 6th grade fish tank experts made their way to Cadillac for the annual acquisition of Chinook Salmon eggs! These fish will be raised in the tank until May when they are realized back into the Great Lakes water basin!
Big Rapids Middle School students lined the streets of downtown Big Rapids today to honor our veterans during the annual Veterans Day Parade. ❤️💙
With flags waving and cheers of appreciation, students showed their gratitude to those who have served our country. We were especially proud to see several BRMS students walking in the parade to recognize their own family members who have served.

🎬 A showing of Charlie Brown Thanksgiving
We’ll also be collecting canned green beans and donations toward turkeys to help local families in need. Plus, 50% of event proceeds will go to the Rotary Club to purchase turkeys for community families.

This Friday is Halloween at BRMS! We're really excited to see all the awesome student costumes. Reminder though, there are some expectations.
Halloween guidelines: students can wear school appropriate costumes on Friday. No masks/face paint/blood/weapon like accessories. Must follow dress code guidelines. Come to school in costume and wear it all day.

It’s National School Bus Safety Week, and we’re celebrating the incredible team that keeps our Cardinals safe every single day!
Each day, BRPS buses carry 1,372 students across 1,023 miles — and by week’s end, that’s 5,115 miles and more than 6,800 safe rides completed! 🚦 That would be like driving to Florida every day or driving from New York City to Las Vegas, Nevada AND BACK each week!
From early mornings to afternoon drop-offs, our drivers and transportation staff make safety their top priority — and we’re so thankful for the care, smiles, and dedication they show on every route. ❤️

BRMS Student Council Members had the privilege of experiencing the Michigan Supreme Court in action at the 32nd Court Community Connections at the Big Rapids High School on Wednesday. They watched a live oral argument about an ongoing case and had an opportunity to meet the attorneys and justices at a luncheon afterward.
