Eastwood Elementary has proudly earned the prestigious MI HEARTSafe School designation, an honor awarded by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS), in partnership with the Michigan Department of Education (MDE), the American Heart Association, and other key partners. This designation recognizes Eastwood’s commitment to creating a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, particularly in preparing for sudden cardiac emergencies.
This accomplishment reflects the district's ongoing dedication to health and safety, as Eastwood now joins all other BRPS schools in achieving the HEARTSafe designation. Big Rapids Public Schools are proud to be the only schools in Mecosta County to have earned this honor.
We applaud the hard work and dedication of our Eastwood team, along with the invaluable efforts of our school nurse, Laura Bouwkamp, in making Eastwood a safe environment for all.
