On Monday, May 8th, Big Rapids High School Social Studies teacher, Kristy Britton, was presented with an award as the Mecosta County Teacher of the Year by Tom Kunse - State Representative. Kristy is being singled out for her efforts in several areas. In addition to her role as an educator, Kristy has gone above and beyond to volunteer in various extra-curricular activities at the school. She serves as the student council advisor, an assistant softball coach, and volunteers at various school events. In addition to these contributions, she is being honored for success in the most fundamental component of learning - motivating young people.
